Futian to build a flower district
    2018-04-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Futian is aiming to become a flower district in 2018 by creating a batch of greening landscapes to provide citizens with a visual feast. It is estimated that by the end of the year, the total number of parks in Futian will have reached 124, ranking first in the city.

In response to the 40th Arbor Day, more than 40 staff members from the Futian District Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC, Futian District People’s Congress, Futian District Government and Futian District Committee of the CPPCC planted trees in the green land near the south gate of the Party School of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC on March 12.

More than 10 trees, mostly flame trees, were planted. The green land, covering 4,000 square meters, is one of the main projects of Futian’s greening plan.

The district will build Jincheng Ecological Sports Park into a sports park with the largest green roof in Shenzhen, while Shishuliyue Park will be built into a venue integrating culture, sports and leisure, able to rival the square at Shenzhen Book Center.

Additionally, Futian will promote the construction of six flower-themed parks including the 19th International Botanical Congress Commemorative Park, upgrade seven community parks, such as Fuhong Park, and build a batch of unique gardens featuring rich culture.

The district also plans to build 10 unique flower blocks, three flower avenues and nine sightseeing roads, and to present a batch of model projects as the city marks the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. (A Ding)
