Zhang Yu JeniZhang13@163.com A TOTAL of 64 exhibitors from across the country, showcasing regional specialties, craftsmanship and artwork, have gathered at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall of the 14th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF). Shenzhen Cantonese Opera Troupe is one of the exhibitors in the hall. “We are here because we want to promote Cantonese Opera and our troupe,” said a staffer at the booth. “Cantonese Opera is an important component of the Cantonese culture and has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage,” she said. She said the troupe is eager to familiarize more Shenzheners with the artform, especially students and young people. Shenzhen Cantonese Opera Troupe has been acting as a public welfare organization by giving regular performances in communities in recent years. Lau Chiyuen, a master of porcelain painting of the Lingnan school of painting, is also exhibiting his paintings in the hall. Lau learned to paint from his father, Lau Qunxing, a student and close friend of Gao Jianfu, one of the founders of the Lingnan school of painting. “I look forward to attracting more foreigners to learn about porcelain painting and the Lingnan school of painting,” he said. The Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall focuses on displaying time-honored porcelain, State-level intangible cultural heritages and traditional folk handicrafts. |
