People evacuated

A TOTAL of 4,437 people have been evacuated following heavy rain since Sunday in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province, the local land and resources authority said yesterday.

The maximum rainfall from Sunday to Tuesday reached 332 mm in Emeishan City.

Ancient tombs found

A TOTAL of 86 ancient tombs have been unearthed in Central China’s Hunan Province recently, the provincial archaeological research institute said yesterday.

The tombs were located in the city of Yiyang and the excavation started in December last year.
