Bao’an shines at ICIF
    2018-05-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 14th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) came to a close May 14. During the fair, Bao’an District showcased its cultural prowess and vitality through 14 supporting cultural activities and exhibitions held at Hall 1 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center and 11 subvenues across the district, deeply impressing the public.

Highlighting the cultural industry

Designed to showcase Bao’an as “a core area of the Greater Bay Area, a highland of artificial intelligence and innovation, and a cradle for the newly booming sharing economy,” the Bao’an exhibition at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center attracted many visitors.

Themed “Industrial Ecology and Wisdom for Creating the Future,” the design of the Bao’an booth, featuring “starry nights” and “ocean blue,” is divided into three parts, namely “the change of the industrial landscape,” “the change of the types of industries,” and “the change of the pattern of industries,” and consists of six sections: “my cultural life,” “my scientific and technological life,” “my entertainment life,” “my intelligent life,” “my sports life” and “my virtual life.”

In the exhibition, the exhibitors embedded cultural elements into different products that drew the attention of visitors, such as the transparent YIPLED smart LED display and the advanced smart cloud product equipped with high technology, “Dragon Scale Volume Binding,” which brought and ancient binding technique back to life, and the well-known cultural IP “ZOMBIES CAT.”

After 40 years of rapid development, Bao’an is now going through industrial transformation and upgrading with the cultural industry as the driving force for its positioning as a highland of artificial intelligence and innovation.

Facilitating the industrialization

of culture and art

In terms of subvenues, Bao’an included Songgang Amber International Trading Market and Shenzhen YUTO Packaging Technology Co. as exhibit locations. Both of the two companies enjoy a common feature: Their products promote culture and art, and in turn cultural and art elements bring in bigger commercial success.

Located on Songrui Road of Songgang Subdistrict in Bao’an, Songgang Amber International Trading Market gathers amber from all major production areas around the world. In addition to being the only one-stop professional amber wholesale market in the world, it is also a cradle for the development of amber culture. The market is now a brand-name enterprise for the district.

Shenzhen YUTO Packaging Technology Co. focused on the theme of “Technology plus Culture” at the ICIF, showcasing many self-developed cultural and creative products including smart packaging technologies ranging from the RFID, to the variable QR code and digital watermarking.

During the exhibition, the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh Frank Ross led a delegation to visit Bao’an, paying visits to sites including Shenzhen-Edinburgh International Creative Incubation Hub, the ICIF exhibitions in F518 Idea Land and Oglass.

Accelerating development

The ICIF is not only a grand annual event for showcasing cultural achievements, but is also a platform for cultural exchange, communication and cooperation, providing an opportunity for culture to embrace industry development.

An array of events were held to showcase the cultural industry and to attract investors to Bao’an. During the exhibition, a total of 24 major cultural and creative projects were signed, many of which were big investment of highly added value.

The 24 projects cover nine main areas including “culture plus films and television,” “culture plus sports,” “culture plus tourism,” “culture plus TCM,” “culture plus design” and “culture plus education.”

The signing of these projects will facilitate industrial agglomeration and help lead the sustainable and high-quality development of Bao’an’s cultural and creative industries.
