Painting exhibitions by senior high school students

深圳13名高中生办展览并斩获近82万美元的奖学金

A painting exhibition featuring over 100 works by 13 high school graduates was held at the of Shenzhen Book City’s CBD Store between May 30 and June 3.

These exhibits helped the students win offers from top universities in Britain and the United States and receive a total of US$820,000 in scholarships.

Through the exhibition, the students want to commemorate their journeys through their high schools and express their gratitude to their parents, teachers and their hometown, Shenzhen.

The 13 students received a total of 45 offers from top universities in in Britain and the United States. Among them, Zhang Qinru nailed an impressive eight offers, including the Rhode Island School of Design. Zhang Ruoxi was admitted into the University of the Arts London and Parsons School of Design at the New School. Other students also got offers from prestigious universities such as Architectural Association School of Architecture, New York University, Cornell University and Boston University.

Their teacher Zhao Dawei, a graduate of oil painting major of Capital Normal University, has 30 years of teaching experience and has published many books.

When sharing her experience in helping students get the offers, Zhao said, “The universities in in Britain and the United States pay much attention to students’ abilities to observe and experience things, be creative and have a unique angle of expression. So I focus on keeping their personalities in their works while making their works express deep meaning and strong visual impact.”
