Chinese mainland and Hong Kong dancers, musicians and visual artists will present multimedia experimental show “Shanjuyin” at 33 Space.

Based on the ancient guqin score “Shanjuyin,” the show is at once a chant, a song and a poem that expresses the abstract soundscape and landscape of ancient mountains coming to life through various layers of movements, sounds, music and visuals that dig deep into human life and re-think modern living styles.

The guqin is a plucked seven-stringed Chinese musical instrument of the zither family. It has been played since ancient times, and has traditionally been favored by scholars and literati as an instrument of great subtlety and refinement. It is sometimes referred to by the Chinese as “the father of Chinese music” or “the instrument of the sages.”

33 Space is a local contemporary art space founded in 2014. It is dedicated to discovering and promoting excellent artists, as well as supporting experimental artistic movements. Past exhibited artworks normally encompass mixed media, such as paintings, sculptures, installations, performance art, sound, videos and more.
