SZ-HK zone ‘to be Futian’s top priority’
    2018-07-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE planned Shenzhen-Hong Kong Technology Innovation Special Cooperation Zone will be the top priority of Futian’s government agenda in the near future, the district’s new Party chief Lu Yuyin said.

Lu made the remarks at a meeting after he attended a research tour to Huanggang Checkpoint on July 19, where he was briefed on the renovation plans for the border area and cooperation plans with Hong Kong for jointly developing the Lop Ma Chau Loop area.

The Shenzhen government has recently decided to set up Shenzhen-Hong Kong Technology Innovation Special Cooperation Zone to support the scientific and technological innovation of the city and Hong Kong. The Shenzhen part of the zone includes an area north of the Loop called Zone C and the Futian Bonded Zone. The cooperation zone will also include Zone A of the Loop area under Hong Kong’s administration.

The research trip to Futian’s border area is part of a flurry of research trips Lu has made within less than a month after he was appointed to lead Shenzhen’s central district.

On June 14, the second day into his new position, Lu visited Futian Railway Station and Shenzhen River to inspect the district’s preparedness against flooding and efforts in fighting river pollution. Noticing that the underground station has a network of complicated pipelines, Lu asked the station operators to tighten inspection and draft emergency plans during the ongoing rainy season to prevent flooding. During a trip to the Futian section of the Shenzhen River, the official said as the river chief of the section, he will use “precision inspection, precision rectification and precision management” to ensure the river water quality is up to national standards and combat water pollution.

Lu, former Party chief of Pingshan, was appointed Futian’s Party chief June 13. In an interview, the new leader said he felt honored to serve people in Futian and that he will initiate more practical deeds so as to lead the central district to “fly” again and achieve high-quality development.

Having been living and working in Futian for almost 20 years, Lu said Futian has become the center of administration, finance, culture, commerce, trade and international exchanges through its 28 years of development, adding that Futian is now focusing on high-quality development with the target of becoming a model district of modern socialist construction.

It has set the direction for developing “Finance + Science + Culture” and sped up the development of the Lok Ma Chau Loop area of the Shenzhen River, as well as the Xiangmihu area, as it endeavors to be a pioneering district for modern industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, he said

In a speech, Lu also said that he would liberate his mind and be courageous, pioneering and innovative in his work by taking advantage of the strategic opportunity of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and guiding Futian to continue its high-quality development in the new era.

In his work, he will prioritize improving the livelihood of the people, education, the level of public services, traffic congestion, water pollution and the environment of urban villages.

Lu, born in November 1970, got a doctoral degree in economics at Nankai University and started his work at the General Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC in July 1998.

He worked as head of Longgang District Government between September 2015 and June 2016 and had been the head of the Pingshan Party committee since June 2016.
