Exhibitions at Shenzhen Museum

Vibrant portrait, landscape and still life paintings created by legendary Chinese artist Pan Yuliang (1895-1977) are on display until July 22, giving insight into the strong woman’s dreams, longings and unique artistic outlook.

Renowned for her self-portraits and nudes, Pan was one of the first Chinese artists to study modern art and a pioneer of Chinese modern art.

Meanwhile, more than 140 pieces of relics unearthed from the North Pagoda in Chaoyang City in northeastern Liaoning Province are on display until Oct. 7 at the newly opened “Treasure From Buddha” exhibition, offering a glimpse into Chaoyang’s long and rich history.

Book expo

The 28th National Book Trading Expo will be held in Shenzhen.

The Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District will be the main venue, along with all bookstores in Shenzhen, including the Shenzhen Book City Longgang Store, which will reopened July following renovation, as subvenues.

It is not Shenzhen’s first time to host a national-level book fair. In 1996, the seventh national book fair was held in Shenzhen when the Shenzhen Book City Luohu Store was officially inaugurated. The Luohu book store was the largest comprehensive book store in China at that time.

According to a report released by www.toutiao.com at the Beijing Book Fair last month, Shenzhen now has 945 brick-and-mortar bookstores.

Dates: July 19-22

Venue: Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, Yitian Road, Futian District (福田区益田路深圳会展中心)

Metro: Line 1 or 3 to Shopping Park Station (购物公园站), Exit E

Interactive design

Emma Pulbrook, visiting lecturer of Central Saint Martins who focuses on fashion and design, and Brad Macdonald, interactive design professor of Parsons School of Design, will give lectures about learning styles in these two schools.

A workshop will also be held afterwards to discuss interactive designs and how to develop the extension of knowledge.

Venue: 9/F, Shenzhen Galaxy Development Center, Zhongxin 5 Road, Futian District (福田区中心五路星河发展中心9楼)
