300 forest cities

China will build 300 forest cities by 2025 to improve the environmental condition of urban areas, the forestry authority was cited as saying on Monday.

The efforts are expected to help lower temperatures, improve air quality, establish noise barriers, generate new wildlife habitats* and improve local biodiversity*, the forestry authority said. According to a national development plan released by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, 200 forest cities and six city clusters will be developed in the next two years.

Beijing’s new airport

The acceptance check for Beijing’s new airport and auxiliary* projects has been set for June 30, 2019 and three months later, the airport will be put into operation Sept. 30, 2019, according to a comprehensive plan issued on Friday.

The comprehensive plan issued at a meeting covers the leftover construction work of the airport, the acceptance check work, transfer plan, preparatory work for formal operations, reception plan and other relevant special plans.

Nursing service system

The government plans to build a nursing service system supported by medical institutes, with communities as the platform and families as the basis by 2020, according to the National Health Commission on Friday.

“It will push forward the establishment of a nursing service structure that covers diagnosis and treatment in the acute phase, recovery in the chronic phase, nursing in the stable phase and care in the dying phase,” a guideline by the commission reads.

Xiongan urban design

Xiongan New Area in China’s Hebei Province has started to solicit* urban design proposals for an initial 38-square-kilometer area.

The Administrative Committee of Xiongan New Area said on Sunday it has invited renowned design teams and institutions from China and abroad to submit urban design bids for the region’s first area to kick off planning and development. The design plans mainly cover landscaping and a business district for corporate headquarters and financial and high-end service companies.(SD-Agencies)
