Landscape project to be completed
    2018-07-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A PROJECT aiming to renovate the landscape along the Shuangjie River will be completed by the end of July.

The Shuangjie River flows across Xin’an Subdistrict, Bao’an District. The relevant government departments of Xin’an Subdistrict have made efforts to improve the water quality of the river and the landscaping of the river banks.

According to media reports, the landscape project focuses on planting with the aim of establishing an ecological environment. The landscaping along the river banks will drive the development of industries in surrounding areas, and will also provide more leisure space along the river for residents .

Another landscape project has been carried out on the Xinzhen River in Bao’an District, constructing ecological facilities to speed up the process of rainwater filtration and alleviate problems caused by the urban heat island phenomenon.

Government departments in Bao’an District will take steps to crack down on inappropriate behaviors, such as discharging industrial wastewater and volatile organic chemicals, to improve water quality.

Since the river chief system was implemented to manage and maintain riverways, more river inspections have been conducted. On June 24, a total of 20 inspectors were sent to clean up a 7.53-kilometer-long river in Xin’an Subdistrict. About 13 problems have been settled and five cases of pollution discharge have been solved this year.

The relevant government departments in Xin’an Subdistrict also attach importance to publicity in improving water quality and cleaning up polluted water. About 101 relevant activities have been held in residential areas near the renovated river, during which 70,000 leaflets have been handed out.
