STOMP

Danish dance group STOMP, which is made up of tap dancers, actors and percussionists from Denmark, the U.S., the U.K., Italy, Australia, Denmark, Canada and Austria, will present a fun, exciting and energetic performance to Shenzhen audiences.

Using the body and ordinary objects as musical instruments, stompers create a physical theater performance using rhythms, acrobatics and pantomime.

These stompers can make music out of everything such as newspapers, matchboxes, sticks, rubber pipes, plastic bags, paper cups and even kitchen sinks.

From the basic beat to a grand symphony, stompers will lead audiences step by step to create their own music.

Time: 7:30 p.m., Aug. 16-19, Aug. 18, 19 also at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Freehand oil paintings

About 100 oil paintings created by 87 Chinese artists are on display at the “Cultural Inheritance: 2018 Annual Exhibition of Chinese Freehand Oil Painting” exhibition at Guan Shanyue Art Museum.

Freehand is a distinct Chinese painting style commonly seen in ink and watercolor paintings. This style focuses on the imagery and charm of a painting, regardless of subjects, objects or brush strokes. It is not only a technique, but also an artistic spirit and notion.

Dates: Until Aug. 22

‘Neighborhood Earth’

For those who dream of standing on the surface of the Mars while watching the sunset, an immersive experience through the solar system as an astronaut is now within reach at the “Neighborhood Earth” exhibition.

The exhibition is divided into six areas in three floors, including an immersive travel experience of the solar system, a life-sized International Space Station (ISS) model, hologram kiosks of space robots and planets, other universe-related exhibits and various hands-on activities.
