Worker carried away by upstream water, killed
    2018-08-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TWO workers who were cleaning the sludge out of the sewage pipelines on the Longhua River on Tuesday were washed away by a sudden surge of water from upstream.

One of them was saved, while the other has been confirmed dead, according to Dalang Subdistrict Office.

The two workers, Wang and Tang, went down to the culvert by the river to fetch their tools after lunch when they saw it was about to rain. However, as they were walking out of the culvert, water suddenly flooded in from upstream. Wang luckily grabbed hold of a rope in time, but Tang was washed into the culvert. Tang’s body was found in the Guanlan River the following day. The case is still under investigation. (Zeng Zhiwei)
