New airport link

A 10.15-KM road linking Fuzhou Boulevard and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway will be built, according to an environmental impact report released by the city’s transport commission Tuesday.

The planned Haibin Boulevard will run along the coast of Bao’an District. It will start at the Shenzhen Airport Interchange Flyover of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor and the riverside expressway. The boulevard, with a designed speed of 80 km per hour, has eight lanes and four side lanes.

Nonmotor vehicle lanes

SHAJING Subdistrict in Bao’an District has piloted the transformation of the outermost motor vehicle lanes on either side of Xihuan Road into nonmotor vehicle lanes in a bid to regulate electric bicycles and improve traffic capacity.

Nonmotor vehicles account for about 85 percent of the traffic on Xihuan Road during morning rush hours, while motor vehicles account for only about 15 percent, according to the subdistrict office. Residents are welcome to voice their suggestions for optimizing the traffic scheme by sending emails to szthc@126.com.

New culture & sports center

A NEW culture and sports center will be built in Yanluo Subdistrict, according to a senior official with the subdistrict office. The 11,647-square-meter center is planned to be located in Yanchuan Community with an investment of 10 million yuan (US$1.45 million). The project is one of six infrastructure projects in Yanluo that have been listed under the city’s renovation projects. Mai Jianpeng, a subdistrict official, said Yanluo will upgrade its public facilities and urban environment through renovation projects in the coming years.
