Innovative workshop launched for young entrepreneurs
    2018-09-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop, jointly set up by the Futian Youth Association, the Futian Technology & Innovation Bureau and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Union for Promoting Science and Technology, was launched at the CFC Building of Changfu Center in Futian FTZ on Aug. 30, with around one hundred representatives from universities, associations and startup companies from Hong Kong and Macao in attendance.

Huang Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the Futian District Committee of the CPC and executive vice head of Futian’s district government, said that the Futian government has always prioritized cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and has issued a series of measures to encourage young people from Hong Kong to work and start businesses in Futian.

“The Futian government greatly supports the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop. We hope the platform can play its role in gathering innovation and entrepreneurship strength from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, facilitating the construction of a highland of innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Huang.

According to Deng Xiaokun, a person responsible for the workshop, a total of 23 high-tech startup teams in the fields of artificial intelligence, biomedical technology and Internet of Things have settled there since the preparation of the workshop at the beginning of this year. The core research team includes 49 people from Hong Kong, two from Macao, three from Taiwan and 25 from Europe and the United States.

Luo Gengbiao, secretary of the Futian District Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, stated that the Futian Youth Association and Futian Technology & Innovation Bureau will integrate resources to provide a series of services providing work offices, short-term accommodations, study and exchange, tax services and IP guidance to young entrepreneurs from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

“They are very supportive. Apart from privileges in terms of living facility and offices, they also help facilitate the matching of market resources, the protection of intellectual property and funding,” said Sun Lifa, a member of the Shengxi Technology team.

Sun, a doctorate degree holder from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, brought several startup partners to the workshop in February. Currently, the team working on “artificial intelligence plus” online education has reached 23 people. After improving the online service, they will launch the research and development of physical products. (Chen Xiaochun)
