Joe Hisaishi Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi will lead New Japan Philharmonic World Dream Orchestra to present “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya Symphony,” “Spirited Away Symphony Suites” and “World Dreams” on Sunday. Hisaishi will lead the baton and play the piano at the concert. The New Japan Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra based in Tokyo. It was founded in 1972 with Seiji Ozawa as honorary conductor laureate. The orchestra is known for their film soundtrack productions, notably “Spirited Away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle,” both soundtracks composed, arranged, conducted and performed by Hisaishi. In 2008, Hisaishi arranged and performed in a concert conducting the World Dream Orchestra and playing the piano to mark the 25 anniversary of his collaboration with animator Hayao Miyazaki. Zhang made his stage debut in the TV singing competition “My Show” in 2004, which he won. In 2007, Zhang participated in another TV singing competition “Super Boy,” which won him national fame. In the following 10 years, he released 12 albums, held concerts and received professional vocal training. Every year, Zhang won several music awards in China and in 2014, he won Best International Artist at the 46th American Music Awards. In 2016, Zhang won Best Male Singer at the Tencent/MTV Asia Music Gala.
