Telecom frauds

THE city’s anti-telecommunication fraud center froze 308 million yuan (US$44.97 million) in 10,377 bank accounts that were suspected of being used by fraudsters in the first eight months of the year.

Statistics in August showed people born in the 1990s are most vulnerable to phone and website scams. Among 2,425 victims, 58 percent were born in the 1990s.

Expressway closure

THE section of Shuiguan Expressway between Longgang Tollgate and Hengping Tollgate has been closed for reinforcement due to soil erosion caused by rain.

Drivers have to use the two lanes in the opposite direction, which is causing congestion.

Police are advising drivers to choose a different route during the road reinforcement period.

Duty-free ferry

PASSENGERS taking ferries between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao can purchase duty-free products during their trips.

The available products include cigarettes, food and cosmetics.

Fake trademarks

YANTIAN police recently criminally detained seven suspects who had infringed upon the trademark rights of liquor makers.

The suspects made the liquor in a remote village in a province outside of Guangdong and sold them in other cities.

Police seized 120 bottles of the fake liquor at a production facility involving more than 1 million yuan in an action last week.

Bike replacement

MOBIKE has been approved by local authorities to replace 40,000 bikes with new ones to improve its service and provide a better riding experience for its customers.
