Man detained for false report
    2018-09-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN surnamed Tang in Longhua District was walking his wife’s favorite dog when the pet was killed by a car. Afraid of his wife’s scolding, he called the police and made up a story about his cell phone and pet dog going missing while he was being robbed.

After receiving the report, Longhua police quickly dispatched more than 800 policemen and mobilized seven police stations to participate in the investigation. They set up 14 checkpoints around where the incident was claimed to have happened.

Tang was sentenced to 10 days in administrative detention and fined 500 yuan (US$72.8) for making a false report.
