Tourism safety

China has called on Sweden to guarantee the safety and legitimate* rights of Chinese tourists, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said on Monday.

“On the early morning of September 2, three Chinese tourists, including two elderly, were brutally treated by local police on the outskirts of Stockholm,” Geng said. “The Chinese Embassy in Sweden and Chinese Foreign Ministry have successively lodged representations with the Swedish side, urging them to conduct a thorough investigation, respond to the Chinese tourists’ reasonable appeal in a timely manner and inform the Chinese side as soon as possible.

Taiwan warned

A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Sunday urged Taiwan to immediately stop infiltration* and sabotage* activities against the mainland.

“Taiwan authorities must avoid any further damage to the increasingly complicated and intense cross-Strait relations,” said An Fengshan, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, in response to media inquiries.

Online streaming platforms

The National Copyright Administration summoned 15 major online video streaming and related media companies on Friday, asking them to strengthen regulations and enhance their awareness of copyright protection issues.

The 15 companies include one of the country’s most popular video platforms, Bilibili, video streaming site Douyin, and Tencent-backed live-video streaming startup Kuaishou.

Training base

A self-driving engineer training base was launched on Monday in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China’s Guizhou Province.

Located in Guiyang Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, the training base is equipped with advanced hardware including LiDARs, industrial cameras, industrial computer numerical control machines and metal 3D printing systems, as well as over 10 vehicles with self-driving development platforms. The base was launched by Guizhou’s self-driving platform PIX Moving, together with Silicon Valley-based online education platform Udacity and Autoware.(SD-Agencies)
