Firm displays USV at intl. maritime trade fair
    2018-09-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE country’s leading Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) company, Oceanalpha, displayed one of its star products at the 2018 SMM, a globally-known maritime trade fair that ended Sept. 11 in Hamburg, Germany, the Bao’an Daily reported.

The Bao’an-based company received favorable comments from professional attendees and visitors at the fair. This year’s SMM attracted over 2,000 companies and over 50,000 visitors from all over the world.

As the largest international maritime fair, the SMM has a global reach and impact, gathering reputable enterprises to display the latest technologies and innovations in the maritime industry, according to the report.

For the duration of the fair, visitors from all around the world inquired into Oceanalpha’s new USV at its exhibiting booth and showed great interest in China’s first USV enterprise. Many expressed their willingness to cooperate after the fair.

According to representatives from the company, Oceanalpha has developed more than 25 models of USVs varying from 1-meter to 50-meter models. Oceanalpha USVs can be equipped with multiple accessories, such as water quality probes, ADCPs, echo sounders, side scan sonar radars, and more, for the purpose of conducting environmental measurements, hydrographic surveys, underwater investigations, patrol and rescue operations, and cargo shipping with more effectiveness.

The model showcased at the fair, ME40, can be maneuvered with dexterity underwater, conducting topographic mapping of lakes, rivers, water reservoirs and coastal waters using multiple functions such as GPS auto-navigation, automated collection, and obstacle evasion among others, largely increasing the safety and accuracy of such operations.(Cindy Zhang)
