Letters From Readers
    2018-10-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

I WAS extremely happy to read that (finally) something has been done to make children aware of traffic safety. First through a musical which then will be further developed into a child traffic safety course for primary school students.

As China has leapfrogged so many stages of progress in all forms and ways we see that many “elderly” people (35 and above) have grown up without much traffic in the streets and therefore never really were taught safe behavior in traffic. This clearly shows on our streets in the way how people conduct themselves. It might therefore be a good idea to have traffic safety education introduced as a daily routine in businesses and to the general public via TV and social media.

We are setting the first steps with primary school but we should not forget those who never had (the chance of) a proper traffic safety education. Every traffic accident is one too many, and remember the next one could be one close to any of us.
