Ancient ruins

ARCHAEOLOGISTS said yesterday that they have unearthed the remains of ancient houses and ash pits, together with animal bones, bronze ware and stone tools in Northeast China’s Jilin Province.

The Bronze Age finds were discovered on a sand dune near Dajinshan Village in the city of Shuangliao, according to the School of Archaeology affiliated with the Jilin University.

13 trapped

AS two more miners were confirmed dead, the death toll rose to 13 after a rock burst at a coal mine in East China’s Shandong Province, local authorities said yesterday.

Another eight miners remain trapped in a 74-meter-deep tunnel, which is blocked by a falling coal seam at both ends, according to the emergency rescue headquarters.

Rescuers have cleared 42 meters of the tunnel as of 6 a.m. yesterday and are working on the remaining 32 meters from both ends.

Quake monitoring

THE country will officially provide services for the quick reporting of earthquake seismic intensity and provide early warning information to high-speed rail networks nationwide by 2021, according to the China Earthquake Administration.
