To mark United Nations Day, which falls on October 24 every year, students of all grades at Shenwai Longgang International School (SLIS) presented a variety of performances, including speeches and songs, to parents and teachers on October 25.

The themes of their performances revolved around peace, love and environmental protection. Apart from the performances, students also brought art works they created to the event and auctioned them off to raise money for Cuibei Primary School in Shanwei City, which the fourth graders had visited recently.

After returning from Shanwei, the students proposed to the school to hold an auction event at which they could sell their works and raise money for their counterparts in Shanwei. Their works were all sold out at the auction. The proceeds will be used to repair the playground of the school in Shanwei.

“The IB curriculum’s mission is to create a more peaceful world. That is why we are developing the MUN (Model United Nations) as part of our ASA program at SLIS in the new school year,” Founding Principal Neil Bunting said in a welcome speech at the event.
