Trump to end birthright citizenship

Migrants, part of a caravan* traveling to the United States, stand in line to climb a little hill after crossing the Suchiate River, a natural border between Guatemala and Mexico, in Ciudad Hidalgo, Mexico, on October 29. U.S. President Donald Trump said last week that he intends to sign an executive order that would terminate birthright citizenships in part of an effort to end “anchor babies*” and “chain migration*.”SD-Agencies Italy storms kill at least 30

Floods killed 12 people on the island of Sicily, including nine members of a single family, pushing Italy’s week-long storm toll beyond 30, rescuers said on Sunday.

After a river burst its banks, the bodies of the family including children aged 1, 3 and 15 were discovered in the coastal town of Casteldaccia east of the capital Palermo.

Rescue services said the house where they were spending the weekend was submerged* in water and mud. The other victims’ ages ranged from 32 to 65.

Sons of Khashoggi appeal for return of his body

The sons of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi on Sunday issued an appeal for the return of their father’s body and said they wanted to return to Saudi Arabia to bury him.

In an interview with CNN, Salah and Abdullah Khashoggi said that without their father’s body, their family is unable to grieve and deal with the emotional burden of their father’s death.

“It’s not a normal situation, it’s not a normal death at all. All we want right now is to bury him in Al-Baqi (cemetery) in Medina (Saudi Arabia) with the rest of his family,” Salah Khashoggi said. “I talked about that with the Saudi authorities and I just hope that it happens soon.”

Iran condemns US restoration of sanctions

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed on Saturday the fresh U.S. sanctions on Iran as the failed experience, official IRNA news agency reported.

The U.S. has sought “to cripple and hold back Iran’s economy” by resorting to sanctions, “but the outcome is that the country moves broadly towards self-sufficiency,” Khamenei was quoted as saying.

The remarks by Iran’s top leader came a day after Washington announced the return of its full-scale sanctions against Tehran.

Two dead in US yoga studio shooting

A gunman killed two people and wounded five others at a yoga studio in Florida’s state capital Tallahassee before taking his own life, police said on Saturday.

At 5:47 p.m. on Friday, 40-year-old Scott Beierle “entered the business posing as a customer and began shooting patrons with a handgun without warning,” the Tallahassee Police Department said. The assailant later turned the gun on himself and died on scene.

Over 150 killed in violence around Yemen’s Hodeida

Fighting has escalated around Yemen’s key port city of Hodeida, with more than 150 combatants killed over the weekend from both the rebel and government-backed sides, officials said on Sunday.

Airstrikes and naval artillery pounded rebel positions around the Red Sea coastal city, where government-backed troops are launching a major ground assault to try to wrest it from dug-in rebels. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals*.(SD-Agencies)
