Persons of reform

THE Guangdong Provincial Government recommended six candidates to the Central Government for approval as elites for their contributions to China’s 40 years of reform and opening up.

Ma Huateng, founder and CEO of Tencent, Li Dongsheng, chairman and CEO of TCL Group, and Yu Guogang, former vice manager of Shenzhen Stock Exchange, were among the candidates.

During the publicity period between Tuesday and Nov. 12, anyone with any objections to the candidates can provide their feedback by calling 020-8313-4955 or sending an email to srstbzb@163.com.

iPhone workshop

THE police and market supervision authority recently busted a household workshop in Guangming that was suspected of producing counterfeit iPhones. More than 500 counterfeit iPhone 8 Plus mobile phones with a market value of 3 million yuan (US$431,655) were seized.

Further investigation continues.

Suspects taken back

A TOTAL of 36 suspects involved in telecommunications fraud were returned to Shenzhen by police from the Philippines on Tuesday.

They were involved in more than 700 scams involving 18 million yuan. Twenty-two suspects have been handed over to Guangdong police and 14 suspects will be transferred to Jilin police for further investigation.
