Maker week held in Huaqiangbei
    2018-11-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THEMED “connect with each other, integrate development,” the Shenzhen international maker week and Huaqiangbei Seg Up summit was launched at Segmaker Space on Oct. 12 and will run through Nov. 15.

An array of events, including a tech carnival and forums, were held. Enterprises exhibited in the tech carnival cover different areas including smart furniture, intelligent robots, wearable devices, drones and VR games.

Wang Bao, chairman of Shenzhen Electronics Group Co., said that the group has many years of experience in different fields, including the electronic market, industry incubation, semiconductor manufacturing, photovoltaic and new energy. In particular, the creation of the Segmaker Space has provided a platform and resources for entrepreneurs.

“Innovation is Shenzhen’s most unique feature and core competitive edge. Shenzhen Electronics Group, as the host of this event, has always stuck to the mission of a State-owned enterprise, which is facilitating the innovative development of the city. Through the establishment of the Segmaker Space, it has facilitated the rapid growth of startup teams and small and micro businesses, contributing to the city’s mass entrepreneurship and innovation cause,” said Hu Zhaoyang, vice director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shenzhen Municipal Government.

Huang Weizhong, executive vice head of Futian District, said Huaqiangbei, well known as “China’s No.1 Electronic Street,” is a miniatue of China’s 40 years of reform and opening up. Shenzhen Electronics Group, which has grown up with Huaqiangbei, is also a representative of the achievements of Shenzhen’s reform and opening up and innovative development.

According to Huang, Futian has always supported the development of the enterprises, individual innovation and entrepreneurship. The district will create more advanced platforms for innovation and entrepreneurship like Segmaker Space by formulating more public policies, investing in more public resources and supporting public management.
