Vaccine law

China’s State Administration for Market Regulation on Sunday published a draft law on vaccine management on its website to solicit* public opinions for half a month.

The 11-chapter draft law stipulates* that supervision and management of vaccines’ market access should be tightened. The draft law requires stricter management on vaccine production, research after sales, distribution and vaccination. Illegal behaviors, including the fabrication of data, will be severely punished, the draft read.

Import expo

Deals for intended one-year purchases of goods and services worth a total of US$57.83 billion were reached at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), which concluded on Saturday in Shanghai, official data showed.

A total of 172 countries, regions and international organizations, and more than 3,600 enterprises participated in the six-day event, which attracted more than 400,000 domestic and overseas purchasers, Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau, told a news conference.

Pilot honored

A pilot who made a successful emergency landing in May has been honored as one of China’s 20 “most beautiful veterans” of 2018, authorities announced at an honoring ceremony.

Liu Chuanjian, a Sichuan Airlines pilot born in 1972, was known for his professional reaction in making an emergency landing after the cockpit window broke during flight, ensuring the safety of all the 119 people on board.

Qigong popular

A delegation of four qigong masters from China is visiting the San Francisco Bay Area to train qigong practitioners at a series of events.

The workshop, titled “Chinese health qigong: Ancient health enhancing exercises for modern fitness,” was organized by Shaolin Temple USA and the Chinese Health Qigong Association (CHQA). During the four-day program from Thursday to Sunday, the delegation, composed of experts from the CHQA and some Chinese universities, demonstrated health qigong and gave lectures on methods of traditional Chinese health preservation to local audiences.
