Taxi surcharge

THE fuel surcharge for fuel-powered cabs in the city will be lowered to 2 yuan (US$0.29) per ride starting Friday as the retail price of No. 92 gasoline has been lowered to 7.29 yuan per liter from 7.70 yuan per liter, sources from the city’s development and reform commission said.

The city has adopted a cab fare mechanism that links to the fluctuation of fuel prices.

Coastal park

THE western extension of the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Belt will open to the public at the end of the month following upgrades and renovation.

Park visitors can access the China Reform and Opening-up Museum and the Sea World Culture and Art Center in Shekou directly through the coastal park.

New faculty

SCHOOL of Life and Health Sciences was recently inaugurated at Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), becoming the fourth of the university’s colleges in Shenzhen.

By November, the university had established cooperation with 77 leading universities around the world involving student cultivation, exchanges, scholar exchanges and summer courses. Six percent of the students at the university have experienced learning overseas.
