20 livelihood projects bear fruit
    2018-12-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE light show themed “Splendid New Era” made its public debut in Futian CBD on the evening of Sept. 28. By the evening of Oct. 6, the number of visitors to the top of Lianhua Hill and Civic Center plaza to watch the light show over the previous week had reached 1.12 million. On the evening of Oct. 1, the number of visitors peaked at 218,000.

The light show is one of the 20 projects Futian District has implemented to improve people’s livelihood. It’s a night view project combining high tech and the city’s culture, which greatly enriches the aesthetics of the city.

According to Futian District government work report released at the beginning of the year, the district had planned 20 livelihood projects covering education, health care, pensions, public culture, and ecological and urban environment. With the efforts of all the participants, most of the projects have entered the final phase, while some have already been finished and put into use.

Two newly built schools, including the south campus of Futian Foreign Languages School and Fuyuan Primary School, started their school terms Sept. 1 as scheduled, providing more than 3,500 public school slots.

Funan Primary School is a school in an urban village for the children of migrant workers. With the help of the district government, Wu Zhengxian, a top-level teacher, set up the city’s first work station for the professional development of teachers at the school, which will guide five math teachers in improving their teaching level.

On July 31, the recently built Lenovo labor union canteen opened in Futian Bonded Zone, providing a lovely place for over 2,000 assembly line workers to dine.

The residents in the Changtai Garden housing estate now have access to quality drinking water. The housing estate, located in Baihua area, was built in 1997. It’s home to a total of 338 households in two 30-story buildings. The buried pipeline in the housing estate used to be galvanized steel pipes and the pipes behind the water meter were mainly PVC pipes, which led to problems of rust in the water. The district has implemented a “quality drinking water in each house” project, which covers 369,000 households in 612 housing estates. (Chen Xiaochun)
