TO promote the integration of art, technology and commerce in Huaqiangbei, the 1st Huaqingbei Science and Technology Art Festival kicked off Nov. 1 and ran through the end of the month. Featuring technology, art, culture and fashion, the festival showcased the vitality of Huaqiangbei, dubbed China’s No. 1 Electronics Street, through 16 diversified events, such as music festivals, maker exhibitions, singing contests, e-sports competitions, street markets and free lectures. American pianist and dean of the Yale School of Music Robert Blocker and the British ukelele band UKEBOX were invited to perform, bringing a feast of the fine arts to Huaqiangbei. “The Huaqiangbei Science and Technology Art Festival embodies the successful integration of art, technology and fashion, and realizes the transformation of innovation into market achievements,” said Huang Wei, vice head of Futian District. With the reputation of being innovative, Huaqiangbei is considered Shenzhen’s calling card and the epitome of reform and opening up. In recent years, it has been continually transformed and upgraded in terms of business environment, city management and cultural construction.
