    2018-12-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Lydia Chan Yip Siu-ming, head of currency and settlement of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, shows off new HK$1,000 banknotes yesterday. Tens of millions of the new HK$1,000 banknotes debut in Hong Kong today. The new banknotes have six advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting and showcase the city’s renowned yum cha (meaning drinking tea) culture and Cantonese opera. The new HK$500 bills will be available Jan. 23. Three other denominations — HK$100, HK$50 and HK$20 — will enter circulation between mid-2019 and early 2020.China News Service
