Fuhai Subdistrict strengthens cultural relic preservation
    2018-12-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LIU HONGYING, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Bao’an District People’s Congress, led a team in carrying out an inspection of the law enforcement of cultural relic protection in Fuhai Subdistrict on Nov. 27.

The inspection was in accordance with the supervisory work plan of the Standing Committee of the Bao’an District People’s Congress in 2018. On the day, Liu and her team visited Keyinlin Temple, Zhili Building and other cultural relic protection sites.

In Fuhai Subdistrict, there are three immovable cultural relics, namely Keyinlin Temple, Zhili Building and Jiugang Hill Ancient Tombs Group.

Zhili Building was built in 1934 by Lin Rutian, an overseas Chinese citizen residing in the United States. As a representative work combining Chinese and Western architectural styles, the building is an important historic site for the study of Chinese-and-Western-styled watchtowers in Bao’an and the history of overseas Chinese.

Located in the western part of Qiaotou Community, Keyinlin Temple was first built in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), according to Lin’s genealogy, and was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The temple is of special significance for studying the history of Qiaotou Village and Lin’s excellent family discipline.

Jiugang Hill Ancient Tombs Group, which consists of six tombs, is located on the south slope of Jiugang Hill in Qiaotou Community. The earliest tomb was built in 1880, and the last one was built in 1891. The group of ancient tombs provides material for the study of tombs in Bao’an.

Supported by the higher authorities, Fuhai Subdistrict regards the protection of cultural relics as an important task.

The subdistrict office has set up a mechanism for inspecting immovable cultural relics. It insists on organizing volunteers to investigate potential safety hazards at the three immovable cultural relics every month. Once hidden dangers are found, they should be reported to the authorities for treatment.

In addition, a protection network of cultural relics has been established at the subdistrict and community levels. The subdistrict has signed a liability document with the workstation in Qiaotou Community to strengthen the inspection and renovation of cultural relics.

While further exploring and upgrading historical and cultural resources, the subdistrict has also reinforced efforts in the renovation of key cultural relics and the improvement of the surrounding environment.
