Resident committed to volunteer work
    2018-12-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BEING committed to volunteer work, 61-year-old Lin Yunzhen, who lives in Dayang Community of Fuhai Subdistrict, has been given the affectionate nickname “Sister Lin” by her neighbors.

“Sister Lin” earned the name in the neighborhood through her kind deeds. She has helped a working couple pick up their child after school, and when the parents were too busy to get home in time for dinner, Lin would cook Hakka dishes for the family, which she served with her handmade chilly dipping sauce to cater to a Sichuan taste.

She has also volunteered in elderly communities, especially for the empty-nesters and the elderly who have difficulty moving.

“Sister Lin” is not alone in helping people. “I take great pleasure in making the acquaintance of many people through volunteer work and joining hands with them for good causes,” she said. As a leading member of her community’s elderly association, “Sister Lin” appeals to her neighbors to participate in volunteer work. She also reports on the difficulties faced by the elderly to their communities on a regular basis.(Wang Haolan)
