AN adorable moment was caught on camera when a golden retriever was given a new friend for Christmas.

Minnie, 1, gets frightened very easily and suffers from anxiety, which prompted her owner to give her a puppy as an early Christmas gift Dec. 19.

Nicolette Hall, 23, from Texas, is Minnie’s owner and gave her golden retriever an 8-week-old pup named Parker as a companion and confidence boost.

Hall said, “She has really bad fears and anxiety so we figured getting a new friend will help her come out of her shell.”

The dog groomer was over the moon to see her two dogs getting along perfectly from the minute they met.

She added, “It was kinda like love at first sight — Minnie has always loved other dogs and having friends now she has someone to grow up with and to help her be brave!”

The heartwarming clip shows Minnie running around a cardboard box before stopping next to it and wagging her tail excitedly.

After a moment, Parker the puppy emerges from the box, its little head poking out.

Minnie initially seems unsure as to what to do and runs backwards, before approaching Parker and giving the puppy a sniff.

Her tail is wagging the whole time, revealing how excited she is to have a new playmate.

And it seems as if the excitement is reciprocated as the adorable dogs bond instantly.
