YUANLING Subdistrict in Futian stood out among all subdistricts in Shenzhen and was rated as one of the “Top 10 Happy Subdistricts by Netizens in 2018” during the 2018 Network Grand Ceremony themed “Thumbs-up to good examples in the era” held at the Civic Center on Dec. 26.

“It’s a great honor for us to receive this award. This shows the citizens recognize what we are doing,” said Lai Yuming, an official with the CPC work committee of Yuanling Subdistrict. Lai added that the subdistrict will continue to work hard in the new year to develop Yuanling Subdistrict into a happy subdistrict.

In order to improve the residents’ sense of happiness, Yuanling Subdistrict spares no effort in solving problems regarding such issues as school seats, nursing home beds, public parking spaces and employment.

The Baishaling Kindergarten resumed classes, offering 150 standard spots for kids. The Bajiaolou elderly care center, the first of its kind under a public-private-partnership service mode in the city, has settled in the subdistrict, offering another 112 nursing beds. Another two elderly care centers have also been set up to serve disabled elders and elders with dementia. The subdistrict has also joined hands with Zhongnan Human Resources Company to create a platform for employment and entrepreneurship.(Chen Xiaochun)
