深圳外国语学校高三(4)班 刘芯羽

With the scorching sun blazing fiercely, cicadas singing continually, it seemed that I was standing in front of Guzhai Primary School. All sorts of feelings welled up in my heart when I gazed into space, where the playful children were laughing merrily.

The sense of unfamiliarity had faded away in the repeated communication between sincere hearts. The impetuosity which once captured my mind had also been washed away.

From my perspective, the so-called “the most unforgettable memory” is no more than this.

In these five days, for the first time, I made dinners with peers all by ourselves, looked up at a sky full of stars in silver moonlight, became a math teacher and experienced the sweets and bitters of it. Among all, the family visit impressed me most.

Since I hadn’t visited local families with the identity of teacher, in the beginning, I was sort of excited, hoping I could learn about the sprightly kids from more aspects. After chatting with a single mother and a grandma who reared three grandchildren, my teammates and I found out that those adults spoke nothing but criticizing their children, complaining about their naughtiness, poor scores and so on. Being scolded by adults, the joyful lights shining in the kids’ eyes dimmed.

The sun went down and darkness fell. I faced the continuous mountains, deep in thought — those kids are all concentrated and alert at class, and their parents should be aware that what influences the scores is pluralistic, including family and environment. In addition, simple blame is not a kind of humbleness; instead, it’s an invisible sword, hurting the tender hearts time and time again. From my viewpoint, no matter whether family conditions can support them to finish their study, the children need encouragement and praises to a certain degree.

Look comprehensively into a series of educational problems in the process of urbanization, and most of the problems are closely related to family education. Besides holding high hopes for their children, parents need to pay more attention to the unconscious effect of their own words and actions on their children.

Not only did this experience bring me wonderful reminiscence, but it also promotes me to think about educational matters. For me, it was undoubtedly a journey of spiritual growth. In contrast with those superficial and hasty tours, this is the most memorable, isn’t it?
