Mindray apology

MINDRAY, a leading medical equipment company in Shenzhen, apologized and extended a welcome to the college graduates who had signed employment contracts to work at the company.

The company was at the center of a controversy during the New Year’s Day holiday for dissolving contracts with around 200 students, most of whom will work at the company’s R&D posts, due to “strategic adjustment.”

Mindray’s stock decreased 7.23 percent in two days after the contract-termination incident.

Air tickets sold out

PRE-FESTIVAL tickets for flights operated by China Southern Airlines from Shenzhen to Nanchong, Luzhou, Hanzhong, Bijie, Zhangjiajie, Changde and Guangyuan have been sold out. Tickets to tourism destinations like Kunming, Lijiang, East China cities and Beijing also sold out fast.

Fraud on street

LONGGANG police caught three suspects involved in a scam in Shanxia Community in Pinghu Subdistrict, Longgang District.

A woman surnamed Chen found a purse on the road when a stranger stopped her to ask for directions. The stranger suggested splitting the money in the purse with Chen, but the purse’s owner later appeared and demanded they return the purse.

To prove they were innocent, the stranger showed the owner his purse and his bank-card password, and Chen followed suit. However, the stranger secretly wrote down Chen’s bank-card password and swapped Chen’s bankcard for another card.

He later withdrew 80,000 yuan (US$11,595) from Chen’s account. Chen reported it to police when she found there was only 8,000 yuan in her account. The three suspects were arrested in Chongqing and Dongguan.
