Firm, manager punished for bribing for housing project
    2019-01-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A LOCAL company was fined 5 million yuan (US$724,638) and its general manager was sentenced to three years in prison over bribery, according to a recent ruling by Luohu District People’s Court.

Xu Qiuhua, general manager and legal representative of Shenzhen Huayang Trading Co. Ltd., was convicted of bribing the chairman of a State-owned company for an urban renewal project in Hangcheng Subdistrict, Bao’an District, in 2011, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

Huayang and Xu received 60 million yuan as a commission from Shenzhen Huasheng Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. and Xu promised to help the latter get the construction contract of the project, according to the report.

After receiving the money from Huasheng, Xu approached the chairman of Shenzhen Baoyin Electric Co. Ltd., identified by his family name Xing, telling Xing that he could help find real estate developers for the project.

Xu gave Xing 22 million yuan and Xing agreed to help the developer recommended by Xu win the bid for the project.

Baoyin owned the land parcel on which the reconstruction project would be conducted, the report said.

Xu pleaded guilty to the charge, the report said.
