New Shenzhen Science Museum to be in Bao’an
    2019-01-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE new venue of Shenzhen Science Museum will be built in the Greater Airport Area in Bao’an District, the city’s top political adviser said last week at the advisory body’s executive meeting.

The size of the new Shenzhen Science Museum has been reduced from the originally planned 105,000 square meters to between 60,000 and 80,000 square meters, and the preparation for the construction of the new museum is under way, according to Dai Beifang, chairman with the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, who provided an update on the progress of the construction of the new Shenzhen Science Museum.

The current Shenzhen Science Museum is located on Shangbu Road in Futian District.

It was one of the city’s eight landmark cultural facilities when it was put into service in 1987. It had been used to host conferences and remained off-limits to the general public until the 1990s.
