WITH the cordial help of three community safety inspectors, a senior who had lost her way in Fuyong Subdistrict, Bao’an District, was returned home safely on the evening of Jan. 8, the Bao’an Daily reported. The safety inspectors found the octogenarian while they were patrolling in the vicinity of Fuwei Community at around 7 p.m. The woman, who is in her 80s, was sitting on the roadside in a trance with a pale face. The safety inspectors went up and asked her if she needed help. The old woman told them she had lost her way when she went out for a walk in the afternoon. She had wandered the area for several hours but could not find her way home. The safety inspectors searched for the old woman’s address with information she provided and contacted her son by phone, notifying him to pick up his mother. The woman’s son, surnamed Wu, arrived in 10 minutes. Wu said his family had been looking for his mother in the vicinity for hours and expressed sincere thanks to the safety inspectors. Wu’s mother is not the only resident in Fuyong Subdistrict who has received help from community safety inspectors. On Jan. 2, Fan Mufu and Zhou Lifang, two safety inspectors in the subdistrict, were driving past an intersection of Huaide South Road in a patrol car when a man asked for their help. “I haven’t been in Shenzhen long and I am not familiar with the nearby hospitals. My wife is about to give birth and needs to get to a hospital immediately,” said the man. Fan and Zhou heard the pregnant woman moaning and saw that she looked pale. The safety inspectors comforted the pregnant woman and immediately escorted them to the hospital in 10 minutes. On Dec. 23, 2018, an old man in Xixiang Subdistrict collided with a bus as he rode a bicycle across the intersection of Bao’an Boulevard and Haicheng Road. The man fell into a coma on the spot. Li Zhiming, a safety inspector who was on duty at the intersection, witnessed the accident and immediately rushed to the man. Li used his first-aid knowledge to carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the old man, who’s breathing gradually resumed after several minutes. Meanwhile, a warm-hearted resident came forward to offer a hand in the rescue. Twenty minutes later, medical staff arrived at the scene of the accident. Li assisted medical staff to lift the patient into the ambulance, and the old man was brought to Bao’an Central Hospital. (Zhang Yu) |
