HK-funded firms

Facial recognition

AN intelligent system that facially identifies passengers is being used at Futian Transport Hub to ensure safety during the Spring Festival transport rush.

During the peak between tomorrow and Feb. 3, the transport hub will dispatch 700 buses and handle 11,000 passengers a day.

ID evidence

ISHENZHEN, the city’s service app, recently put a new feature online that allows air passengers who don’t have ID cards with them to apply for a temporary ID to take domestic flights.

The temporary electronic ID was developed by the Shenzhen airport police department. Those who forget to bring their ID cards to the airport can fill in their personal information and complete the facial recognition process to receive an electronic version of their ID that will allow them to board a plane.

Customs turnover

BOTH cargo and passenger turnover through Shenzhen Customs hit record highs in 2018, sources from Shenzhen Customs said.

The cargo passing through Shenzhen Customs reached 850 million tons, or over 2 million tons a day. The passenger turnover reached 250 million, or over 680,000 a day.
