    2019-01-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN has the second most singles in the workplace in China, with the percentage of single workers reaching 77.23 percent, according to a report jointly published by online recruitment website zhaopin.com and matchmaking website zhenai.com Sunday, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

In 2018, 68.33 percent of employees who participated in the survey were single, the report shows. Haikou City in Hainan Province has the most singles, with 87.5 percent of workers being unattached.

Shenzhen ranks second with 77.23 percent, while Fuzhou City of Fujian Province ranks third with 75.93 percent of employees being single last year.

Among the single population, 52.62 percent had been single for more than three years, and 14.58 percent were single for one to two years.

The report also shows that men are more anxious to say goodbye to their bachelor days, as 57.68 percent of men look forward to moving on from single life while 45.92 percent of women expressed as much.

Additionally, 35.93 percent of men attribute their singlehood to lack of money and 35.5 percent think it is due to their limited social circle. For women, 49.3 percent of them believe their small social circle explains why they are single, while 20.17 percent think they are single because they are too picky.

According to the survey, 63.51 percent of workers consider marriage a necessity. Nearly 80 percent of men believe that marriage is a requisite, but less than half of women share the same view.

More than 50 percent of the workers support getting a divorce when a marriage doesn’t work. In terms of gender, 65.13 percent of women voted yes, which was significantly higher than the men, of whom 44.28 percent agreed.

Meanwhile, 40.64 percent of respondents said they would politely remain silent when pressured by their families or relatives to get married, while 22.76 percent would change the topic and 8.19 percent would offer a rebuttal.
