Free Spring Festival scrolls offered in Lianhua Hill Park
    2019-02-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THEMED “Love in Futian, Happiness for Every Household,” the 17th Spring Festival Scrolls by Hundred Calligraphers event was held at Lianhua Hill Park on Jan. 18. Nine members of China Calligraphers Association and more than 100 calligraphers, 50 paper-cut artists and 100 culture volunteers presented Spring Festival scrolls to citizens with best wishes for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Citizens all lined up happily, waiting for the calligraphers to write various wishes on their scrolls, such as “Everything goes smoothly every year, everyone is healthy, safe and makes progress throughout the year” and “Wealth and honor for the family, good luck and happiness for the New Year.”

Li Yongchuan, a calligrapher from Zijing Painting and Calligraphy Association, arrived at the scene with his friends one hour before the event started to begin preparations. Li said he attends the event organized by Lianhua Subdistrict Office every year, rain or shine. He said he was very happy to present the Spring Festival scrolls he wrote to other citizens.

A total of 4,000 pairs of Spring Festival scrolls were handed out to citizens. Apart from calligraphy, a 12-meter-long paper-cutting work called “Shenzhen Story” was also on display. A brass plate paying tribute to Deng Xiaoping also made its debut in Lianhua Hill Park, attracting much attention.

The event was initiated by Lianhua Subdistrict Office and co-organized by the Publicity Department of the Futian District Committee of the CPC, Futian District Federation of Trade Unions, Futian Literary Federation, Futian Overseas Chinese Federation, Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Women Association and Lianhua Hill Park Administration Office.(Chen Xiaochun)
