SHENZHEN attracts over 100,000 graduates every year to work or start their own companies here. Among the permanent residents in the city, 52 percent are aged between 14 and 35. To improve the environment for youth talent development and attract young talents to settle down in Futian, the district has implemented the 10,000 youth talent plan which includes four service projects, namely accommodation, study, entrepreneurship and friendship. The plan targets the difficulties in settling down in the city, studying, entrepreneurship and making friends that are often encountered by new graduates when they come to Shenzhen. It provides systematic and comprehensive services and has served a total of 20,390 young talents over the past year. The “Youth Accommodation” project focuses on short-term accommodations, employment assistance and blending into the city. The Futian Grads Home under the project has become a popular place for new graduates searching for jobs in Shenzhen. Fully equipped with a hot water shower, Wi-Fi and air-conditioning, it provides temporary accommodations for young people. It also offers additional services, such as career guidance and on-site recruiting. The Futian Grads Home is the first in the city to be awarded as an “Exemplary Youth Home.” The “Youth Study” project focuses on enhancing the workplace competence of new graduates. Last Oct. 27, Lyu Gexin, visiting professor from Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, delivered a course on speech and eloquence as one of the nonprofit courses organized by Futian CBD Youth College. In 2018, the college organized a total of 86 courses and trained 6,893 young people. The “Youth Entrepreneurship” project is developing a quality platform for business startups and innovative young people. On Sept. 14, 2018, nine innovative entrepreneurs, including the founder of Nayuki, Peng Xin, shared their experiences on the TV program, “Innovative Youth Talk.” The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop on the 21st floor of the CFC building provides a first-class software and hardware environment for young entrepreneurs from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. It provides a series of services, including work space, accommodations, training and exchanges. Currently, a total of 24 science and technology startup teams, covering artificial intelligence, biomedicine and Internet of Things, have settled down there. The “Youth Friendship” project focuses on the love, marriage and socializing of young people. The district has organized 10 dating events and nine socializing events to help young people meet more friends and even life partners. A total of 1,830 young people attended the events, and 246 of them found lovers.(Chen Xiaochun) |
