THE district government of Futian signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to jointly build science and technology innovation platforms in the Shenzhen side of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong technology and innovation area and carry out research on cutting-edge technologies.

Located in south Futian and in the Lok Ma Chau Loop Area, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong technology and innovation area enjoys a unique geographical position. It is the direct place to blend Hong Kong into the development plan of the country. It is of great significance to build a key scientific research cooperation base to connect top-level domestic and international enterprises, research institutes and universities and excellent research talents.

Futian will support SIAT in the construction of innovative platforms, including the Shenzhen-Hong Kong biomedical innovation institute, Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-end medical equipment innovation center and international comprehensive research and development platform.

According to Fan Jianping, president of SIAT, biomedical technology suits the planning and position of Futian. As a new-type science and research institute, SIAT will make good use of the platform of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong technology and innovation area and contribute to the building of technology highland in the Greater Bay Area.

Lu Yuyin, Party chief of Futian, said that the cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong enjoys huge potential for a promising future.
