Winter tourism

JILIN Province has attracted over 14.7 million tourists during the weeklong Spring Festival holiday, marking a year-on-year increase of 16.52 percent, local authorities said yesterday.

The rising number of tourists brought a revenue of about 14.3 billion yuan (US$2.1 billion), up 19.64 percent, according to the provincial culture and tourism department.

More jobs created

NORTHWEST CHINA’S Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region created jobs for 75,000 poor residents in its southern regions in 2018, local authorities said.

It is part of a three-year poverty-relief plan for the four regions in southern Xinjiang — Aksu, Kashgar, Hotan and the Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Kizilsu — which are among the poorest areas in China.

Hospital assessment

THE country will boost performance assessment for its public hospitals in order to promote better efficiency and income distribution, according to China Daily yesterday.
