BAO’AN set an economic growth target of around 7.3 percent for this year, district head Guo Ziping said in a government work report she delivered at the opening meeting of the annual session of the district’s legislature Jan. 25.

Addressing 260 deputies, Guo said the district expects growth in total retail sales of consumer goods at 7.5 percent and fixed assets investment at 15 percent this year. The general public budget revenue is expected to grow by about 5 percent. Foreign trade volume is expected to achieve positive growth while the unemployment rate will be lowered.

According to the initial estimate, Bao’an’s GDP exceeded 383.2 billion yuan (US$56.4 billion) last year, with a year-on-year growth of 8.7 percent. The added value of local industries above a designated scale increased 7 percent to reach 178.6 billion yuan. A total of 106.3 billion yuan was invested in fixed assets, a growth of 30.3 percent over 2017. The total retail sales of consumer goods topped 83.7 billion yuan, up 7.5 percent. The district’s imports and exports totaled 56.5 billion yuan, increasing 1.5 percent. The fiscal revenue amounted to 65.69 billion yuan, up 4.8 percent, while the general public budget revenue hit 26 billion yuan, up 10.3 percent.

To achieve the goals for the coming year, a work plan in 16 aspects was specifically outlined in the report, focusing on Bao’an’s role in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, further support for innovation development and real economy, and amelioration of the district’s business environment, ecological environment, soft power and livelihood.(SD News)
