Fixed assets investment estimated at ¥110b
    2019-02-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BAO’AN will invest 110 billion yuan (US$16 billion) in fixed assets this year, district head Guo Ziping said at the annual meeting of the Bao’an District Party Congress on Jan. 23.

Of the total, 16.5 billion yuan will be invested in 1,212 government-funded projects. The district will also complete 15.8 billion yuan of industrial investment and 9.2 billion yuan of investment in technological upgrading.

Another 22.7 billion yuan will be spent on improving Bao’an CBD, while 17.9 billion yuan will go toward Airport New City.

The rest of the money will be used for the construction of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Passage, Phase II of Riverside Expressway, Outer Ring Expressway, Mawan Cross-sea Passage, Baopeng Passage, Metro lines 6, 12, 13 and 20, and Shenzhen International Airport Satellite Hall.

Meanwhile, 20 billion yuan will go to environmental protection this year, with the treatment of 66 rivers, 266 drainage culverts and 108 lakes and ponds topping the government’s agenda.

The exhibition and convention economy will remain a top priority for the district government this year. The main structure of the Shenzhen International Exhibition and Convention Center was completed last month. Upon completion June 30, the 1.58-million-square-meter center will be the largest of its kind in the world, equivalent to the size of six Bird’s Nests, China’s national stadium in Beijing. After being put into service in September, it will host more than three city-level events within the year. It is bidding for the permanent right to host the China Marine Economy Expo and applying to host the Belt and Road Countries Trade Fair.

The district will also strive to boost the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry with an aim to build Bao’an into an international-level advanced manufacturing core area to the east of the Pearl River.

Last year, Bao’an finished 106.3 billion yuan of fixed-assets investment, up 30.3 percent compared with 2017, the most in the city.

Construction on Binhai Cultural Park and construction on Metro lines 6, 12 and 13 made progress. A total of 33,000 parking lots were built and 30 old parks were renovated. Four new schools and 19 new kindergartens were set up, offering another 9,300 school seats and 8,130 preschool seats.

The district rolled out a series of favorable policies to lure high-end international talents last year. As a result, 31 high-quality innovation projects, including the Nobel laureate Randy Schekman’s International Joint Laboratory of Medicine, settled in Bao’an.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Research Institute of Advanced Electronic Materials was set up in Bao’an. Five new academician work stations were established last year, bringing the total in the district to 10. So far, Bao’an is home to 3,900 State-level high-tech enterprises, topping the province.(SD News)
