Anti-drugs training

COURIERS in Hangcheng Subdistrict underwent training on detecting drugs in late January to enhance their ability to deal with drugs at work. The training was provided by anti-drugs social workers in the subdistrict. The couriers were trained on the laws against drugs, the consequences of drug abuse, how to identify drugs in packages and how drugs are usually disguised for delivery services. Fliers with anti-drug information have also been distributed to deliverymen.

Warehouse raided

A WAREHOUSE involved in illegal business involving substandard cotton was recently raided by law enforcement officers in Xixiang Subdistrict. The illegal business was first uncovered by a community grid worker named Liu Zhiyong when patrolling in Guazitian Industrial Park. A large number of abandoned quilts and clothing was found in the warehouse with no firefighting equipment. Liu asked a man in the warehouse to see a business license but the man could not produce one. The warehouse was closed down.

Family reunion

A SENIOR couple reunited with their missing son before the Spring Festival in Songgang Subdistrict thanks to the help of a community grid worker. Wang Junjian received a request from a senior female resident to help find her nephew who had been missing for over five years. The senior, surnamed Li, told Wang that her nephew, identified as Chen, came to Shenzhen to work five years ago. After briefly staying with Li, Chen moved out and had not contacted her ever since. Li went to Wang with the only information she had received from Chen’s parents: Chen had rented an apartment in Songgang. Wang located Chen’s whereabouts in the subdistrict’s home rental system. Chen told Li and his parents that he felt too ashamed to go home as he hadn’t earned as much money as he had vowed to.

Illegal fireworks seized

A GROCERY store in Songgang Subdistrict was raided for illegally selling firecrackers and fireworks. The grocery store owner was detained for investigation. According to police, the store owner had not put any fireworks on the shelf but hid the firecrackers and fireworks in a warehouse opposite the store and led people who wanted to buy fireworks to the warehouse to make the transactions. More than 30 cartons of fireworks and firecrackers were seized.
