College enrollment

SHENZHEN Polytechnic will enroll 868 students from Guangdong Province, including 394 from Shenzhen, according to the college’s 2019 enrollment plan. It is the first time the university is enrolling students from outside of Shenzhen.

Female smugglers

A YOUNG woman was caught by Shenzhen Bay Customs for attempting to smuggle 30 iPhones by taping them around her waist Feb. 26. Five minutes later, another woman in similar attire was caught carrying 30 undeclared iPhones to cross the border at Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint. Customs then paid special attention to female travelers in similar attire and, in the following hour, 16 women were caught with smart phones hidden around their waists or in backpacks. A total of 516 used iPhones, 36 Samsung smart phones and seven Switch gaming devices were seized.

The 18 people have been handed over to the anti-smuggling department for investigation.

Construction waste

AN intelligent monitoring system developed by Shenzhen Municipal Construction Bureau that can track the treatment of construction waste gained approval from the Housing and Construction Ministry recently.

Using GPS, the system can trace the entire process from discharging and transportation to receiving and recycling. Shenzhen generates about 100 million cubic meters of construction waste a year.
