A TOTAL of 55 projects, which are all related to people’s livelihood and cover areas such as housing, medical care, education and transportation, were launched by Futian District on Feb. 14. The projects, with a total investment of 27.5 billion yuan (US$4.1 billion) and a budget of 5.6 billion yuan this year, include nine school renovations, 13 ecological environment improvement projects, seven medical and healthcare projects, 24 urban renovation projects and two government-subsidized housing projects. Meanwhile, all 55 projects correlate with the city’s major projects this year and closely revolve around the development and construction of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Sci-tech Innovation Cooperation Zone. In particular, the renovation of Huafu Village has attracted much attention. According to Huang Wei, deputy chief of Futian District, the old housing estate project is the first of its kind in the city to have completed demolition and launched renovations. Futian has also taken an active role in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Among the 31 recently launched municipal projects, Futian is responsible for 11, which are related to the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Sci-tech Innovation Cooperation Zone and involve a total investment of 34.4 billion yuan.
